Fans belong to traditional handicrafts, due to the development of technology traditional handmade fans are gradually replaced by electronic fans. But handmade fans still play a role on some social occasions. From a question “FAN + Furniture =?”, try to bring the structure of traditional folding fan back to the public's view by fusing the two elements.
I have designed a wall-mounted, detachable folding table that incorporates fan-inspired elements. Through an interlocking mechanical structure, the table’s opening mechanism mirrors that of a fan, with the aim of bringing these fan-inspired elements more prominently into the public eye. I therefore conducted research in social venues such as bars, restaurants and cafés. As this product is space-saving, it is particularly well-suited to cafés with limited space. The detachable design helps baristas close up more quickly, whilst the innovative design encourages customers to linger longer, thereby helping the café generate revenue.

Project 02 Muti-Coffee Furniture
This project focuses on material innovation and modular design; it comprises a set of furniture designed for coffee shops, including stools and side tables. The core concept is to minimise waste from whole pieces of furniture through a modular, demountable design, whilst facilitating maintenance and the replacement of components. The tops of the furniture are made from discarded coffee grounds, with the aim of reintroducing waste materials into the industry to create value. Whilst bveing robust and reducing the cafe's expenditure on furniture, it also provides customers with a pleasant user experience. CNC machines are utilised during processing to minimise cutting waste as much as possible.
